Listening to: "Bring on the Beginning" by Matt Pond PA

If you're like me, you might have gone through your entire life thinking each person has their one astrological sign. And you might also be familiar with the horoscope section of the newspaper, but perhaps your knowledge doesn't extend far beyond that. I've read a couple of those horoscopes throughout my life and never really thought much of it. It's also very possible that you're not like me and knew way more about all of this than I could have possibly realized!

A friend with whom I've recently reconnected has introduced me astrology in a new way. They encouraged me find out my time/location of birth so I could see my birth chart! I honestly couldn't wait to get home and confirm the details on my birth certificate so I could see an accurate birth chart.

Without getting into the weeds, I have to say that I had no idea that I had different placements in different signs that make my personality completely unique. I always thought I was a Leo, and that's it. Those of you that know about astrology may be shaking your heads, but I was absolutely floored to find out that, while my Sun is in Leo, my Moon is in Sagittarius and my rising sign is Scorpio. (Among so many others!) Throughout my life, so many people have said "huh, you don't seem like a Leo." And this brought me so much clarity, because there's so much more to me than that! I've been listening to a podcast "Astrology Bites," and they described your Sun sign as the broad brushstrokes of a painting, while your Moon, rising sign, and all of the others fill in the fine detail of the painitng. That analogy made so much sense to me!

As I dug through this birth chart, I decided to take notes on anything that resonated with me. (I filled ten pages!) I found a lot of things that helped me understand myself better. Then there were other things that I knew confidently about myself but was surprised to see them appear here! Honestly, in so many ways, this made me feel validated. It kind of feels like those things that I thought were flaws, or others saw as flaws, might just be the things that make me me! There's some comfort in that. And beyond understanding myself better, I feel like learning more and more about astrology kind of gives me the blueprints to understand others better.

So, I'm really looking forward to learning more! There's so much out there, and I'm sure it'll all come gradually, but I am excited!
